Brilliant....!

He was only 96 when I first met him. It was the first time I was in England to meet my wife's family. He was still living on his own, with some help from his son and daughter, but still going strong. He was a huge fan of Arsenal, but also very kean on watching Rugby. Fish and chips served with a cold beer was his favourite meal. He could tell lots of stories about the old days. Especially about the second world war, about the dog he found, and about playing football against other soldiers. But also the brilliant strory about visiting the old picture house, watching the news about the Titanic. Or playing alongside the traintrack of Strawberry Line. He could tell it like it was just yesterday. "My granddad was by far the kindest and sweetest person I ever met”; is what she told me. Her best memories are probalbly about walking with him in Clevedon to the horses as a little girl. Just having fun and on the way back buying penny sweets in the newspaper shop. On his 101st bir
